Goal-Backed Marketing Plan: Channels, Budget, Timeline
Turns a revenue or pipeline goal into funnel math, chosen channels, a reasoned budget split, a dated timeline, and kill/scale rules.
Before & after
Same prompt, same agent — the only difference is the skill.
A marketing plan is essential for launch success. You'll want to think about your target audience, which channels work best for reaching them, and what your messaging should be. Budget matters too — you'll need to decide how much to spend and where to allocate it. Timing is important; you might want to build awareness before launch, then drive conversions after. Consider email, social media, paid ads, partnerships, events. I'd be happy to help you think through any of these pieces. What's your budget range? Who's your ideal customer? How much lead time do you have before launch? Once I understand those details, we can sketch out a more specific plan.

About this skill
Most marketing plans list every channel, split the budget evenly, and never check whether the goal is reachable with the money and people available. This skill starts from your number. It works backward through the funnel to find the volume you need, then picks the few channels that can deliver it, and says plainly when the goal, budget, or timeline don't fit together.
What it does
- Works backward from your goal through the funnel (customers, trials or SQLs, leads, traffic) and shows the implied cost per customer next to what a customer is worth
- Chooses 2-4 channels based on how your buyer purchases and how much your team can run, and explains why the other channels were left out
- Splits the budget by each channel's role (proven, scaling, experiment) and sets aside a reserve, with production and tools counted in the same budget
- Builds a week-by-week timeline that puts tracking, offer, and landing page before paid amplification, and accounts for sales-cycle lag
- Writes kill/scale rules for each channel before launch, with spend thresholds and decision dates
- Reviews a plan you paste in and leads with the problems that would sink it
What you get
A plan document with funnel math, a channel table, a budget table, a dated timeline, kill/scale rules, a measurement setup, and risks. Missing inputs are filled with labeled assumptions you can replace with your own numbers.
Best for
Consultants, agencies, and fractional CMOs building plans for clients. Also founders and solo marketers deciding where a fixed quarterly budget should go.

description: Builds a marketing plan that works backward from a revenue or pipeline goal through funnel math to a short list of channels, a role-based budget split with reserve, a dated timeline, and kill/scale criteria per channel, and flags when goal, budget, and horizon don't fit. Use when the user says "build me a marketing plan", "we have $20k for Q1, where should it go", "how should I split my marketing budget", "create a 90-day marketing plan for my client", "our marketing is just random tactics", "we keep spending on ads and nothing comes back", "review this marketing plan".
