Same prompt, same agent — the only difference is the skill.
Prompt“Price my online course — I was thinking $49.”
Beforegeneric AI agent
Pricing a course at $49 is reasonable, but the right price depends on several factors: - The value and outcome it delivers - Your audience's willingness to pay - Competitor pricing - Your positioning (premium vs. accessible) Some considerations: - Higher prices can signal higher quality - Tiered pricing lets you capture different segments - Payment plans make higher prices accessible - Anchoring with a premium tier makes the middle look reasonable $49 is on the lower end for a course. If it delivers real transformation, you may be underpricing. What does your course teach and who is it for?
Afterwith Digital Product Pricing
$49 is a number, not a price. A price comes from value, an anchor, and tiers — here's how to get there, and $49 almost certainly leaves money on the table if the course delivers a real outcome. START FROM VALUE, NOT COST The question isn't "what's a course worth" — it's "what's the OUTCOME worth." A course that helps someone land a $15K freelance client is priced against that $15K, not against other courses. Name the outcome in dollars first; the price follows. THE ANCHOR PROBLEM WITH A SINGLE $49 One price has nothing to compare against, so $49 reads as "cheap course" — which signals low value in exactly the market where price signals quality. You need something to anchor against. TIER STRUCTURE — three, designed so the middle wins CORE $79 the course itself COMPLETE $199 ← the target. course + templates + a group call COHORT $499 course + live cohort + direct access, capped seats Most buyers land on COMPLETE because CORE feels thin next to it and COHORT anchors the ceiling. You've turned "$49, take it or leave it" into "which of these," which converts higher AND at a higher average. WHY NOT JUST RAISE $49 TO $199 FLAT Because a lone $199 has the same anchor problem in reverse — it reads as expensive with nothing to justify it. The tiers justify each other. PAYMENT PLANS Offer COMPLETE as $199 or 3×$79. The plan makes the higher tier accessible without discounting it, and it lifts conversion on the tier you actually want people to pick. THE ONE INPUT THAT SETS ALL OF THIS What outcome does the course produce, and what's that worth to the buyer? Tell me that and I'll set the three tier prices against it — $49 is likely the CORE floor, not the whole offer.
