Email List Segmentation Plan
Splits your email list into non-overlapping segments with exact entry/exit rules, plus content, offers, cadence, and sunset policy for each.
Before & after
Same prompt, same agent — the only difference is the skill.
Email segmentation is a good way to improve engagement. You could segment by things like purchase history, engagement level, traffic source, or interests. Then you'd send each segment different content that matches their needs. The tricky part is not over-segmenting—you want to be specific without fragmenting your list so much that each segment is too small to matter. What's your subscriber count and what kind of content are you sending?

EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Overall open rate lift: 18-22%
Click-through rate lift: 12-15%
Revenue per subscriber lift: 24-30%About this skill
Your whole list gets the same email. Buyers get pitched the product they already own, people who signed up yesterday get your hardest sales email, and thousands of inactive addresses quietly drag down your inbox placement. This skill turns one list into a small set of segments your platform can actually run, and ties each segment to a different decision about what to send.
What it does
- Builds one ranked set of lifecycle segments (suppressed, buyers, new, engaged, cooling, lapsed) where the first matching rule wins, so no subscriber lands in two segments or gets two conflicting emails
- Uses clicks, replies, and purchases to define engagement instead of opens, since privacy features in mail apps register opens that never happened
- Sets inactivity windows by the number of emails missed, not a fixed day count, so a monthly sender doesn't remove people after three emails
- Moves interests and lead-magnet source into tags, and adds a one-click survey to collect interest data you don't have yet
- Adds rules that keep buyers out of promos for what they bought, plus a re-engagement and sunset sequence to protect deliverability
- Audits an existing setup for overlapping segments, gaps, open-based rules, and segments that don't change anything about what gets sent
What you get
A segment table with exact entry rules, cadence, content, and exit triggers for each segment, plus a tag layer, suppression policy, send rules for broadcasts and launches, a build order, and the metrics to track for each segment. Ask a quick question and you get a quick answer, not a full plan.
Best for
Creators, newsletter writers, course sellers, and small e-commerce brands on Kit, Mailchimp, beehiiv, Klaviyo, or similar platforms who still send one email to everyone, or whose segments have grown into a mess.
