Discovery Call Script That Qualifies and Closes
A timed discovery-call script that finds the prospect's problem, screens out poor fits, states price plainly, and ends in a decision.
Before & after
Same prompt, same agent — the only difference is the skill.
Here's a discovery call script structure: **Opening**: Build rapport, set the agenda **Discovery**: Ask about their situation, challenges, and goals **Qualification**: Understand budget, timeline, and decision process **Presentation**: Share how you can help **Close**: Agree on next steps Some good questions to ask: - What prompted you to reach out? - What have you tried so far? - What does success look like? Tailoring your questions to their specific situation helps. Want me to expand any section?
DISCOVERY SCRIPT — consultative, built to qualify AND close, in your
voice. The structure is designed so the prospect talks 70% of the time —
a discovery call you dominate is a pitch, and pitches don't close.
OPEN (2 min) — set the frame, not rapport for its own sake
"I want to make sure this is a fit both ways, so I'll ask a lot before I
say anything about how we work. Fair?" — this earns you the right to ask
hard questions.
DIAGNOSE (the bulk of the call)
• "Walk me through what's happening now." (situation, in their words)
• "What has that cost you?" (quantify the pain — this becomes your
price justification later)
• "What have you already tried, and why didn't it stick?" (rules out a
bad fit AND tells you what not to propose)
• "What does this look like solved?" (their definition of success)
QUALIFY — woven in, not a checklist
Budget, timeline, and who decides — asked as consequences, not
interrogation: "When does this need to be solved by, and who else weighs
in on that call?"
CLOSE — earned, specific
Not "let me send a proposal." "Based on what you said about the cost of
X, here's the shape of how we'd fix it. Should I put that in writing
with pricing?" — a close that reflects their own words back.
THE ONE RULE
If you're talking more than a third of the call, you're pitching, not
qualifying. The questions do the selling.
Share your voice samples and what you sell, and I'll write the full
script in your tone.About this skill
Your calls turn into free coaching sessions. Prospects nod for 40 minutes and then say "let me think about it." Or price comes up and the energy drops. This skill writes a discovery-call script you can actually say out loud. It surfaces the problem and what it costs in the prospect's own words, screens out poor fits before you pitch, and ends every call with a yes, a no, or a booked next step.
What it does
- Builds a timed script for your offer and call length. Key moments are written word for word: the opening, the recap, the price, and the close.
- Orders the questions so pain comes before price. Budget and decision-maker questions come before the pitch, not after.
- Writes 3-5 knockout questions with a graceful exit line, so poor fits leave early and kindly.
- Drafts objection replies ("think about it," "talk to my partner," "too expensive," "tried this before") that pin down the real issue and tie back to what the prospect already said.
- Reviews a pasted call transcript stage by stage. It quotes where you lost control and gives the line to use instead.
- Writes the booking-form questions that screen leads before they reach your calendar.
What you get
A ready-to-use call script with time blocks, sayable lines, follow-up questions, disqualifiers, and objection replies. Every call ends in one of three written paths: yes, no, or a booked follow-up. Smaller asks get just the line or fix you need.
Best for
Coaches, consultants, freelancers, and agency owners who sell services from about $1,000 to $25,000 on 1:1 calls. Also teams who need one shared script and a pass/fail checklist for reviewing calls.
