Video organization is definitely helpful when you have a lot of clips! You'd probably want to watch through them, figure out what each one is about, and then rename them with a naming convention that makes sense—maybe by date, topic, or scene. Some tools can help with this, but honestly a lot of people just do it manually if they have the time. You could organize them by folder too, like by day or by scene. Tags or labels might help you find things later. It depends on how organized you want to be and how much time you have. Do you have a naming scheme already, or are you starting from scratch? About this skill
Your raw footage folder is full of files named C0001.MP4 to C0240.MP4, and finding one shot means scrubbing through dozens of clips. This skill has Gemini watch every clip and Claude Code handle the files. You get a searchable log and consistent descriptive filenames. Nothing is renamed until you approve a dry run, and there is always an undo file.
What it does
- Checks every clip with ffprobe before calling the API, and estimates minutes and tokens up front
- Makes lightweight proxies of heavy files first (ProRes, 4K originals, files over the size limit) so uploads are fast and stay within API limits
- Gets each clip back in the same fixed structure: subject, shot type from a set list, summary, key dialogue, on-screen text, and a confidence level
- Takes dates from file metadata, not model guesses, and flags camera-clock and UTC problems
- Saves results as it goes and can resume, with backoff on rate limits, so a failure at clip 37 doesn't send you back to clip 1
- Writes a dry-run manifest, handles name collisions, and creates an undo file before any rename. It also warns you when renaming would break links in Premiere, Resolve, or Final Cut
